RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Our research interest is to understand the molecular mechanism of the pre-mRNA splicing reaction using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a system. We are particularly interested in the function of protein splicing factors. A protein complex associated with the Prp19 protein (named NTC for nineteen complex) that is required for spliceosome activation has been the major focus of our study. We have used biochemical and genetic methods, as well as analysis of proteomic databases to identify components of this complex, and revealed several proteins that function in various steps of the splicing reaction. Our study of the NTC complex and its associated components provides deep insights into the mechanism of spliceosome assembly.

我們的研究是以酵母菌為材料探討訊息核糖核酸剪接反應的分子機制，尤其著重在對剪接蛋白因子功能的了解。我們目前正在研究一個參與在剪接體活化中與 Prp19結合在一起的蛋白複合體NTC (nineteen complex)。我們結合生化及遺傳的方法，並利用蛋白體的分析，鑑定出多個NTC的成員，在剪接體組合的過程中各扮不同角色。這些研究讓我們對剪接體 組合的機制有更深層了了解。
