RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Biophysical Chemistry and Bioanalytics

My research interests focus on physical aspects of biomolecules and bioparticles. The research is highly interdisciplinary, combining knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology to develop new methods and technologies to enhance our understanding of biomolecules and biomolecular assemblies. Ongoing projects include development of nanoparticle mass spectrometry with optical detection methods, measuring masses of single bacterial and viral particles with ion traps, probing molecules and complexes of proteomic importance by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR) mass spectrometry, and application of diamond nanoparticles to surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry and microscopic imaging.

本研究室的工作重點在以物理化學為基礎，開發新一代的生命科學研究工具，包括雷射、質譜儀、顯微鏡以及相關的奈米科學技術。這是一項跨領域的研究， 目前執行中的計畫有(一)光偵測式奈米粒子質譜儀的開發，(二)單一細菌及單一病毒粒子的精準質量測量，(三)奈米鑽石於生物質譜及造影上的應用，及 (四)以傅氏轉換離子迴旋共振質譜儀鑑別蛋白質體中重要的分子與分子聚合物。
