RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery

Research in Lin’s lab involves multi-disciplinary areas including glycobiology, enzymology, synthetic chemistry and biophysics. Emphasis is stressed on the carbohydrate-related enzymes, in particular in association with pathogenic bacteria and viruses. Development of enzyme inhibitors has been carried out to investigate how small molecules interact with proteins and in turn, understand how potent enzyme inhibitors intervene in the pathogenesis. It is our primary concern to develop both synthetic and bioorganic strategies to serve the aforementioned purposes.

In addition, we are highly interested to study non-covalent interaction involved in the protein quaternary structure by using various biophysical methods (including analytical ultracentrifugation and nanospray-ESI-MS) as these approaches can be applied to decipher protein-protein interaction.
