RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Wang’s research interest is to apply structural proteomics in understanding the functions of important biological systems. Our primary technology platforms are high-throughput protein synchrotron crystallography and proteomics. Other advanced technologies will be employed if necessary. At present, we are working in several areas including (1) Structural enzymology: Several enzyme families as potential targets for drug discovery, including prenyltransferases, glyco-related enzymes, proteases and phosphatases, are under investigation. (2) Protein–DNA and anticancer drug–DNA interactions, (3) Search for disease markers using proteomic analysis: We use advanced proteomic approaches to analyze cells and tissues that are associated with certain diseases to identify potential marker proteins, particularly using body fluid samples, including blood, (4) Proteins from extreme environments.
王惠鈞博士的研究專長在於運用結構蛋白質體學,去了解重要之生物系統的功能。我們主要的技術平台包括高效能的蛋白質同步輻射結晶學和蛋白質體學。其它先進技術也可在需要時加入使用。目前,我們正在努力下列幾項領域;(1)結構酵素學:研究幾個具藥物發展潛力的酵素群, 如prenyltransferases, 醣化酵素, 蛋白質分解酵素,與磷酸水解酵素。(2)蛋白質-DNA與抗癌藥物-DNA交互作用:我們正在研究DNA結合蛋白和重要的抗癌藥物與DNA的交互作用。(3)由蛋白質體學分析尋找疾病標的:運用先進的蛋白質體學方法去分析和某些疾病相關的細胞或組織,以定出有效的標的蛋白質。(4)極端環境蛋白質:研究在極端環境下生存之微生物的蛋白質。前述之酵素有部份即來自這些微生物。
